Creative Rights = Creative Reads
Why are creative rights so important for authors, publishers, and all of us in Aotearoa New Zealand?
Read our stories
“Copyright is how I earn a living. It’s the reason I’m able to work on my books full-time.”
“Our knowledge is precious and important and Aotearoa has to get better at protecting it.”
“WORD would be impossible without local authors and booksellers too – it’s an ecosystem.”
“If we are to tell New Zealand stories, we have to recognise and reward the contribution that New Zealand writers make in serving the public good.”
Let’s keep the pages turning
Creative Rights = Creative Reads is led by The New Zealand Society of Authors, The Publishers Association of New Zealand, and Copyright Licensing New Zealand. It’s an initiative dedicated to supporting the rights of the people who make books in Aotearoa, and to explaining how these rights work, why they’re important, and the economic, social and cultural benefits we all gain when we value these.
